Seems people need some clarification. [Jun. 1st, 2005|02:30 pm]
Before I get started on the Nintendo Revolution again, I want to say, wow. It’s June, already? Time moves fast. Kids, enjoy life while you have it. Because it just goes by, day by day, and never stops and lets you enjoy a moment.

Anyway, here it goes. People have stated that my comments are false, because they do not understand my original post. So here I am, a day after, clarifying it. Seems I am not that great of a writer. I never said, not once, that Nintendo would market around the whole ‘AI’ thing. If I did, please point it out, and I apologize. My mistake.

Another point is, someone said, “Nintendo will fail because their processor lack’s the power that the PS3 has and Xbox 360…” and they were referring to the fact the AI takes processing power from the processor, and therefore, since the Revolution ‘lacks’ in power, the PS3 and Xbox 360 will have better AI. But did you not see the specs? A 2.5GHz IBM G5 processor, with four cores. This doesn’t mean four processors mind you. What it means is that it is one processor, with four cores within it (at least, that’s my understanding of it). This does mean, however, in theory, that the Revolution will be more powerful then the PS3, and will be bested only by the Microsoft Xbox 360. Don’t believe me? Check it out yourself. Do some research. Find people who know their technical stuff. Ask them if a ‘IBM G5 Custom x 4 2.5GHz cores’ would be more powerful then a single core 3.2 processor, which is what Sony has in it’s upcoming Champion, the Playstation 3. I am positive they will tell you the IBM processor would be more powerful.

So, as of now, that’s all the real objections I have heard. I have posted my inside information on G4TV forums, GameSpy forums, and I will be posting them on GameDAILY.com’s forums, as well. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to ask.

The Nintendo Revolution [May. 31st, 2005|11:09 pm]
Hello fellow readers alike,

I am Fallax. In fact, my real name is a secret. But if you want, you can call me Sam Smith.

But you are not here to know my name, but the real revolution. That’s the thing. No one knows about this new machine that Nintendo has, do they? There have been many who claim to know things. Like Aries. But do not be fooled. Aires is a fake, a good guesser at most. But this is the real thing. I can’t reveal everything I know. In fact, I may get in trouble for revealing just what I am going to. And, usually, I would give you links and proof to what I say, but that’s impossible. Nintendo doesn’t have links on the Internet that has official information on the Internet. So what is my source? Lets just say, for good measure, that I know things that I shouldn’t. I can’t go into detail how I know these things, I can just tell you that I do know.

First and for most, the specs that were leaked early this month (at least that is when I saw the specs; they might have been leaked earlier) are close to the real thing. The IBM G5 Custom x 4 2.5GHz cores is very close. The truth is that there is another specification that Nintendo is toying with. And not even Nintendo knows what they are using yet. The other specs is a 3.0GHz processor of the same make and brand (IBM G5). The GPU will stay the same, no matter the processing power (which, by the way, was rumored, and now is confirmed by me, to be an ATI developed video card, named ‘RN520’, and it will have 2 cores with 16MB eDRAM).

But why hasn’t Nintendo decided yet? That’s a very good question. And here is the answer. Because they are unsure of what Sony and Microsoft has up their sleeve, and they don’t want to spend loads of money on the four core processor (which is actually one processor, with four cores. It’s a big processor, but takes up less room then four processors). Nintendo will be choosing very soon. I bet you they will go with the four-core processor. But who knows? No one, apparently.

Now on to the juicy stuff. And it’s actually not about the controller. Sure, the controller will be a revolution by itself, but honestly I do not know anything about it. My source has yet to reveal it to me. But what I do know is that, although the development tools will be similar to the Gamecube’s (and many developers have actually started developing titles for the Gamecube, and they don’t even plan on releasing them for the Gamecube. Even though they keep announcing it for the Gamecube. Hint Hint.), it will have much advancement. Such as actual intelligent AI. And I don’t just mean they can program the AI to be smarter. Nintendo is not AOL. They can’t ‘re-build him. Make him faster. Stronger.’ No, they are Nintendo. And they can make AI react to you.

What do I mean? Lets say, in a certain shooter, the mission told you to chase someone down. And the person you are chasing, lets call him Jacob, was programmed to only go a certain route. But you, either by strategy guide, or just being a good guesser, actually found that out, and now you know Jacob’s every move (a.k.a the AI). What is an AI to do? Jacob can now make up his own route, and continue to change it.

Why is this so revolutionary, you ask? Well, sure, this doesn’t sound so cool, only because it came out of my head. My source didn’t elaborate much on what ‘react to you’ actually meant, just gave an example. And the one I gave you is pretty much what he said. But I have been promised better AI. Better then what developers can do on Xbox 360 and PS3, even better then the PC.

Now what else is ‘revolutionary’? I can’t tell you. But Nintendo has cool things in store, let me tell you. And it has to do with what you can do. What the controller will let you do (yes, it is true I don’t know anything solid, I just know what you can do in games. It is very cool. But, I can’t figure out how you will be able to do it. I just know it has to do with the controller. I mean that is how you tell your character to do things, right?) But stay tuned. Maybe someday soon I will get up the guts to actually reveal everything. At least everything I know.
